The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Calls The Conditions of Indonesian Citizens In Russia Safe Amidst The Wagner Rebellion
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the condition of Indonesian citizens (WNI) in Russia remained safe amidst the uprising of the Wagner mercenary group.
"The condition of the Indonesian citizens is safe, and they remain calm," said Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and BHI of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Judha Nugraha, as reported by Antara on Sunday (25/6).
He added that there are currently 14 Indonesian citizens in Voronezh and 11 in Rostov.
The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow has issued an appeal to Indonesian citizens in several regions of Russia to remain calm, be careful, and increase their vigilance due to the security situation.
"This appeal is the obligation of the Indonesian Embassy to provide alerts to Indonesian citizens for various possible security threats.
The Indonesian Embassy will always provide updates from time to time," said Judha.
In a statement released via social media on Sunday (25/6), the Indonesian Embassy also urged Indonesian citizens to always carry an identity document (passport) when traveling and doing their daily activities.
This is in connection with efforts to increase security in public places, public transportation, train stations, and airports.
The Indonesian Embassy urges Indonesian citizens in Moscow and Moscow Oblast to limit travel outside the city except for urgent needs.
This appeal is related to increasing security checks on the exits and heading to Moscow.
The Indonesian Embassy in Moscow also appealed to all Indonesian citizens in Russia to temporarily refrain from traveling to Rostov and Voronezh until the local situation is conducive.
For Indonesian citizens in the Rostov and Voronezh regions, the Indonesian Embassy specifically urges them to comply with local government regulations not to leave their homes, dormitories, or residences if there are no urgent situations.
The Indonesian Embassy also appealed to Indonesian citizens to carry out the obligation to report themselves online at the Care for Indonesian Citizens portal at https://peduliwni.kemlu.go.id for Indonesian citizens who have not done so.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Wagner leader Yevgeny Prigozhin of treason.
Wagner PMC troops crossed the Ukraine-Russia border and entered the city of Rostov-on-Don, according to the Anadolu report.
On the other hand, Prigozhin accused Russian troops of attacking the mercenary group.
